Assessing how the lungs work is critical to assisting health care providers diagnose and treat children with lung diseases.  The Pediatric Pulmonary Function Laboratory is expert in performing several different tests to accomplish this task.  Procedures may be done to aid in the diagnosis of asthma, other obstructive airway diseases, complications of chemotherapy or radiation, or restrictive lung diseases.  The technicians are highly skilled in working with children down to the age of  three years old.  Specialized tests using exercise or methacholine may be performed to aid in the diagnosis of asthma.
